Area 4 Charity Dinner

On March 27th, 2015, the Eccentric Elephants stampeded through Newark Memorial High School to hold their Area 4 Charity Dinner. The primary goal was to raise funds for the International Project, Home Sweet Home, but Interactors also had a lot of fun!

First, the Area 4 officers had to work very hard to set up the event. They had to hang up decorations, move tables, and set down the table cloth.

"And so far, so good."

"Too bad we used up the world's supply of blue tape..."

"Poor Owen."

"WHY ARE WE PUTTING SQUARE TABLECLOTH ON CIRCULAR TABLES?!"

"Banner time!"

"SHOWTIME!"

All of a sudden, the Cha-Cha Slide broke out! The dinner hasn't even started and everyone's already having fun. That's a life accomplishment.

"Everybody clap your hands!!"

And now the show begins! Here are your MCs, Emily Tran and Jessica Zhao!

"And already the love is in the air!"

Keani hands us the lineup card (on one foot) and we're off to the races! Leading off for the Eccentric Elephants is...

"The AVHS Bboys! That hip-hop routine tho~"

"I think this is Vincent Vo's way of setting up Prom dates."

"It's the AHS Bhangra!"

After the third performance, we saw Justin Bulanadi and Vinita Gorti present "Open Heart Open Arms," this year's community project.

"And when you're on stage, you just can't help but smile :) "

Also, we saw many wild dreams come true within two minutes!

"HUGGING"

"I mean, Ananya... you are the most amazing person in the world."

"In My Wildest Dreams, I wanna write about my wildest dreams. Wait WHAT. That doesn't make sense... Maybe I'll tackle the photobooth or eat some food or something..."

After the third performance, the guests had their dinner. The food, which consisted of noodles and salads, was very tasty, and many people went for seconds. For drinks, guests could get Boba Milk Tea, soda, or water. There was also a photobooth where people can take pictures of themselves in a wild dream.

From here on, it's performances all the way to the end! Keani hands us the lineup card (again on one foot) and it looks like going 4th is...

"Elina Wang utilizing that high vocal range and singing in a different language!"

"Paulo Gladney counters with a low, power voice and it's super effective!"

"Here's Newark Indo American. Yeah they're dancing, but I have a feeling..."

"AHA! IT'S A PROMPOSAL! I'm pretty sure we set up a ton of Prom dates today!"

"Kaleb Askew plays his new single!"

"MC Jessica and Andre Tiangco going for the sweet duet!"

"And Emily Phabmixay and Alexis de Silva cap it off with some acapella!"

The performances are over, but there's still more in store! First, the MCs honored the Senior officers by giving them jars with motivational quotes in them. Then, Owen Farmer and Mark Dizon presented Home Sweet Home, the international project.

"Welcome to Senior Night! You guys will graduate in 3 months :)"

"Home Sweet Home with Mark and Owen!"

And that's the end of the show. Or is it? Here, the Presidents and VPs give their thoughts on the year with Area 4 and on Keani and her leadership as Area 4 Director. And then she got hugged. By multiple officers. By A LOT of officers. Her own Eccentric Elephants. Her lovelies. Her people that she loves back.

"I show them a lot of hate and a lot of love, and, you know, it's just kinda my way of saying that you're my family and I can do that to you because you're my family so I love you guys so much for that," said Keani. "I can't thank you guys enough for all the hard work and for being there with me, for always... putting up with me and... I love you guys so much!"

"Well, I think that concludes our charity dinner, and... UNLESS you guys have another surprise or anything BUT I THINK THAT CONCLUDES OUR CHARITY DINNER..."

Oh, believe me, the Eccentric Elephants have lots of surprises up their sleeves. And sometimes, the surprises are so secret, even Keani doesn't know about them. They just happen as surprises.

And in my wildest dreams, those surprises definitely come true and happen when you least expect it.
