There's Snow Place I'd Rather Be!

On December 19th, 2014, Area 4 Interactors held their benefit show at American High School in Fremont, CA. The goal was to raise funds for the District projects, but Interactors also had a lot of fun that day.

"I'm serious. They had a lot of fun. They're excited during set-up too!"

Interactors showed up as early as 3pm to set up the event. They set up rows of chairs for the audience, the stage and speakers for the performers, and tables for merchandise and food.

"Free transportation helped them set up the event quickly."

Doors opened at 6pm. The registration booth was hard at work processing the payments and giving out raffle tickets. There were enough seats for everyone that attended.

"There were also probably enough raffle tickets, but more on that later."

The great, cute, and energetic Area 4 Director Keani Turangan opened the show, followed by equally awesome Master of Ceremonies Felicia Vengco, Selena Vengco, Mark Dizon, and Kenneth Cacacho.The MCs bridged the gaps between performances.

"feat. Gopika the photobooth master taking some quick shots, of course."

From that point on, the performers took over. Seriously! They rocked the house!

"1st Half Performers: Emily Tran and Jessica Zhao; AHS Tahitian Dancers; Lea Kimiko and Ivan He; Last Minute Crew; Shelby Casey; Zachery Haliburton and Reno Laserna; Suchi Narayanan and Natalie Dunn."

The problem was that Mark could not find the real Santa in any of the performances up to that point. He even participated in the Holiday Love Game only to find out that even the three contestants were not Santa.

"But why is everyone so darn happy?!"

Intermission was the best time to buy "all the merchandise being sold at my left" (thanks Keani the Eccentric Elephant). Merchandise included lots of food and shirts.

"I really couldn't resist... Hey! Who ate some of them already?!"

"Oh? What picture is Gopika taking now?"

The Vengco sisters also played some games with the audience, while Mark and Kenneth did one of the raffles.

"The whole right side of the audience were on their feet yelling out answers and begging to win the raffle. Yeah, Area 4 had enough raffle tickets for sure."

The performances continue...

"2nd Half Performers: Franz Diesta; AHS Bboy and BGirls; Reno Laserna; Tufaan; Kaleb Askew"

...Oh! I missed one! The loudest cheers were for the unicyclist Owen Farmer. How can this be? Well, he did things to people that don't value their lives very much.

"I DON'T VALUE MY LIFE VERY MUCH!!!"

It turns out that the last performance wasn't really the last performance. The Area 4 officers suddenly came together and started to dance to Uptown Funk and Rather Be!

"There's no place I'd rather be!"

And guess what? Mark found Santa! Santa's real after all! Mark got to hug Santa too.

"SANTA, IT'S YOU!"

Unfortunately, Mark didn't get to hug Keani...

"Oh... okay then."

With that, the Area 4 Benefit Show ended. The audience left pretty satisfied, and the Area 4 Interactors knew that they and the performers did a great job. It would make Keani really proud. It might even make her smile actually.

"Yup, she's beaming!"

The Area 4 Benefit Show was a success. Area 4 raised funds for the District projects and had a lot of fun that day. Now that the show is over, what should they do next?

"I know! Let's dance!"
